BBA / management and law share aptitude habits — reading, reasoning and timed practice — but the papers, colleges and Goa rules differ. Use the comparison table above, then dive into the section that matches your goal.

Most students either aim at national BBA tests (IPMAT, NPAT, CUET) and Goa college entrances, or at CLAT UG plus Goa’s GU-CLAT for local law colleges. Some prepare for both; the Goa section notes where the syllabi overlap and where they diverge.

Note: Dates, fees and eligibility below reflect published 2026–27 notices in the Bodhi draft. Always verify on the official portal before you apply.

Guide

BBA entrance exams

Source: The Bodhi Academy BBA guide. Aimed at students targeting integrated management (IPM), NMIMS and other undergraduate BBA pathways.

Who should apply

  • You have completed Class XII or are in your final year.
  • You scored at least 60% in Class X and XII (common IPMAT-style eligibility — confirm per institute).
  • You have a baseline in Mathematics, English and general knowledge.
  • You are drawn to business, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving, and can see an MBA in your future.

The main exams

IPMAT

For IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak’s 5-year Integrated Programme in Management. Usually held May–June. About 120 minutes, 100 questions, with negative marking. Tests quantitative ability, verbal ability and logical reasoning.

NPAT

For NMIMS undergraduate programmes. Typically held in May. Computer-based, 100 minutes, 120 questions (40 per section: Quantitative & Numerical Ability, Reasoning & General Intelligence, Proficiency in English). No negative marking is usually mentioned — confirm the year’s brochure.

CUET UG

Gateway to many central universities nationwide. Subject and domain combinations vary by programme; check the NTA CUET brochure and each university’s BBA mapping before you lock domain papers.

Typical weightage

25–35%

Quantitative aptitude

20–30%

Logical reasoning

20–30%

English language

10–20%

General awareness

Four pillars of the syllabus

Quantitative aptitude

Arithmetic, algebra, numbers, data interpretation and basic Class X–XII maths under time pressure. Accuracy first, then speed.

Verbal ability

Reading comprehension, vocabulary in context, grammar and sentence clarity — the same reading stamina that helps on CLAT passages.

Logical reasoning

Puzzles, arrangements, arguments, assumptions and short analytical sets that reward structured thinking.

General awareness

Business awareness, current affairs and static GK. A light daily news habit beats last-week cramming.

The daily preparation cycle

The aim throughout is speed and accuracy, not last-minute cramming. Keep a short, repeatable loop:

  • Concept block (30–45 min): one weak topic from Quant, Verbal, LR or GA.
  • Timed set (20–30 min): mixed questions under a clock — mark guesses and skip cleanly.
  • Error log (10–15 min): write why each miss happened and one fix for tomorrow.
  • Light reading / GK (15 min): one quality news piece or business brief to feed Verbal and awareness.

Where it leads

In Goa: Goa University, St. Xavier's College, S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, MES College, Don Bosco College, Shree Damodar College.

Nationally: IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore, NMIMS, Christ University, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (and other IPM / BBA programmes via the exams above).

Guide

Law: CLAT UG

Source: The Bodhi Academy CLAT UG 2026 booklet. CLAT tests aptitude and skills, not prior legal knowledge.

CLAT UG is the primary route into National Law Universities for 5-year integrated BA LLB / BBA LLB programmes. The paper rewards careful reading and reasoning under time limits.

Five syllabus areas

  • English language
  • Current affairs (including general knowledge)
  • Legal reasoning
  • Logical reasoning
  • Quantitative techniques

How the paper is built

Questions hang off passages of about 450 words at a standard Class 12 reading level. Plan roughly 5 to 7 minutes per passage set. The same passage style appears through four lenses: English (fiction and non-fiction), logical (arguments and premises), legal (fact scenarios and public policy) and GK (journalistic sources and news).

Note: CLAT uses negative marking (−0.25). Guess only when you can eliminate options; otherwise move on and return if time allows.

Training plan

  • Reading habit: read quality newspapers and periodicals regularly to build passage stamina and vocabulary in context.
  • Math habit: practise from Class 10 maths textbooks to improve calculation speed and data handling for quantitative techniques.
  • Legal / logical sets: work timed passage packs — underline facts, spot the principle, and answer only what the question asks.
  • Mocks: full-length papers with a strict review of wrong and lucky-correct answers; track accuracy by section.

Admission

Seats in the National Law Universities are filled through five provisional allotment rounds. Keep preference lists updated and watch Consortium notices for each round’s timeline.

Other Goa routes to law

India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), Goa joined the Consortium of National Law Universities in 2024, so it admits through national CLAT. It offers a 20% reservation for Goa candidates.

Goa BBA admissions

UG admissions to about 40 government and aided colleges run through the DHE’s Samarth portal. For 2026–27, applications opened on 22 June 2026; a student registers once and can choose up to five colleges or programmes. Colleges offering BBA and BCA hold their own offline entrance exam; colleges prepare merit lists and run counselling.

Dempo College Entrance Test (DCET)

Used for BBA at S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics. The last published pattern we could find (2024) was:

  • Computerised MCQ test of 90 minutes, 100 marks, no negative marking.
  • Four sections of 25 marks each: Maths (quantitative techniques), English, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning.
  • No calculators or phones; carry photo ID and a copy of the Class XII marksheet.

The syllabus mirrors the national BBA pillars, so the same preparation serves both.

Check before you plan

Treat every date, fee and eligibility line on this page as a starting point. Confirm the live notice before you register or pay.

  • Open the current year’s brochure for IPMAT, NPAT, CUET UG and CLAT UG — patterns and negative marking can change.
  • For Goa law: confirm GU-CLAT-I / II notices on goauniversity.samarth.ac.in (or the URL printed on that year’s circular).
  • For Goa BBA: check the DHE Samarth portal for application windows, college lists and whether each college still runs its own entrance.
  • For Dempo DCET: verify the year’s pattern, date and documents list on the college site — do not rely on a prior year’s handout alone.
  • For IIULER: confirm Consortium CLAT participation and the Goa reservation percentage for the intake you want.
  • Note Class XII percentage cut-offs (general and reserved categories) and whether awaiting-result candidates may apply.
  • Save payment receipts, admit cards and preference lists; keep a calendar for allotment or counselling rounds.
Note: If anything on this page conflicts with an official PDF or portal, the official source wins. Reach out via Contact if you want help mapping exams to colleges.
